About The Club

The club started in 2000. Four friends from different sporting backgrounds realised that there was no club in the South Tyneside area where like minded people could get together to train. The club name “NE31” comes from the area postcode in which the original members are from, making them easy to find.

Swimming
The club meet every Monday and Thursday for a tri-specific swimming session at Hebburn swimming pool from 9-10pm. Under the guidance of our BTA Level 2 coach we pride ourselves in having the most athletes in the North East under the magical six minute barrier for 400m with our main focus being on technique and pace judgment. Starting in April, Feel free to have a look at our 400m time trial results below. Each session costs £3.00 for adults (£4.00 for non members) and £2.00 for juniors. For more details, don't hesitate to contact us.

Cycling
Primarily, due to work commitments, NE31 don't have a set training session for cycling. As a result, some members train on their own however a lot of our athletes meet up themselves for group rides, usually on a Sunday morning but also throughout the week. Back in 2005, we started our own 20k time trials starting from Follingsby Park industrial estate in Washington. These events have been successful ever since and now take place annually. The route comprises of 2x10k loops on relatively flat and quiet roads. It's and excellent chance to improve your speed on the bike and an ideal distance with most triathlons consisting of a 20k cycle leg.

Running
As with cycling, there are no set training sessions for running within the club. However team members take advantage of the vast amount on running clubs in the area where they take part in training sessions and road, track and cross-country events throughout the year. You can expect to see our members in a variety of running races competing in the colours of Jarrow & Hebburn, Sunderland Strollers, Sunderland Harriers, Chester-Le-Street, Gateshead, North Shields Poly and Low Fell. Any races that team members compete in, the results will feature on here.

Club Membership
The Club charges an annual membership of £30, this is to cover the expenses of the coaches and facility hire. The Membership runs from January to December and also gets you a reduced membership fee when you join British Triathlon Federation/Triathlon England.
